Kids back in school, holiday shopping, stress of the holidays and changing weather bring.. you guessed it, runny noses, colds and the flu! Each year, millions of people get sick with the common cold and the flu. Now I can't guarantee you won't get a cold, but by boosting your immune system and taking precautions to make sure your body is healthy, you may be able to skip getting sick all together! See below for my tips on how to NOT get sick this holiday season!
You will notice a trend on this list - boosting your immune system! There is really no way to prevent sickness, but by making sure your immune system is strong and properly functioning, you will be better able to handle foreign invaders, infections and viruses that come your way!
My Tips On How To NOT Get Sick This Holiday Season:
Make sure you are drinking enough water, at LEAST half a gallon per day, I prefer to drink a gallon to make sure I am fully hydrated. Try putting a lemon wedge in your water to spice up the flavor.
2. Check your gut!
Over 70% of your immune system is in your gut - so if your gut health isn't in great shape, your immune system won't be either! If you get sick often, reach out to me to chat about your gut health.
3. Load up on Vitamin C
Vitamin C aids in healthy immune function by supporting various cellular functions in the body while neutralizing free radicals.
4. Take Immune Boosting Elderberry Gummies, get the recipe here!
* Make sure you use Elderberry Syrup that also contains Echinacea! There have been over 300 studies on the immune-enhancing effects of Echinacea, it is one of the most popular herbs in treating the common cold and helping to boost the immune system!
5. Get enough sleep
Sleep is crucial for immune health and overall health. Aim to get 7 to 8 hours a night and turn off those cell phones at least 30 minutes before bed time!
6. Wash your hands
You don't need to go overboard with hand sanitizer or hand washing, but when you are in a public place full of germs, make sure to wash your hands or use a gentle hand sanitizer without alcohol.
7. Get moving
Even though the temperatures are getting cooler, make sure you are getting outside and moving your body! Aim for 30 minutes a day for optimal health. Make it fun, I just bought a trampoline to spice up my workouts for the winter!
